Meralco Rate for September 2026: What You Paid Per kWh

As in August, the advisory gives the change in the generation charge, up ₱0.4232/kWh, but not the absolute figure. We don’t add that delta to an earlier month to back into a September number. Our archive’s editing rules treat that as an interpolation rather than a verified figure, so September’s generation charge is left unstated here. What moved
Three things pulled in different directions:
- Ancillary service charges fell ₱0.3344/kWh, on lower costs from the Reserve Market. This is the charge that rose ₱0.3024 in August, so it has now given back slightly more than it took.
- Taxes and other charges fell ₱0.1657/kWh. Malampaya finished its maintenance shutdown, which let the First Gas and Prime CoreGen plants go back to indigenous natural gas. That gas is VAT-exempt, where the imported LNG and liquid condensate they burned during the shutdown was not.
- Generation rose ₱0.4232/kWh, on peso depreciation and higher fuel costs after the escalation of the Middle East conflict. That was partly offset by cheaper spot-market power, as average Luzon demand fell roughly 1,200 MW on the weather.
Two AWAT refunds worth a combined ₱1.0139/kWh were still running this month. Meralco’s own distribution charge has not moved for a typical residential customer since August 2022.
What this means for solar
At ₱14.7424/kWh, every kWh your roof produces and you use immediately is a kWh you avoid buying at that price. Two consecutive decreases do not change the arithmetic much: the rate is still inside the ₱14-15 band this site has published all year, and the fall is worth about ₱8 a month on a 200 kWh bill.
Worth noting where the decrease came from, though. Ancillary charges and a VAT quirk are not durable savings, and the refunds are temporary by definition.
