Size to your actual consumption. A system bigger than you use exports the surplus under net metering at only about ₱5-7/kWh, well below the ₱14-15/kWh you pay to import — so oversizing wastes money.

Before choosing parts, decide what you actually want:

  • Lower my bill → a grid-tied system. Cheapest, simplest, no battery. It shuts down during a brownout, which is fine if your power is stable.
  • Bill savings plus backup → a hybrid inverter and a battery, so essentials keep running during outages.
  • Go off-grid → battery, charge controller, and no grid connection. The most expensive path, for places with no reliable line.

Step 3: Choose the four core parts

Step 4: Check it all fits together

Parts have to be compatible: the inverter must handle the array size, a battery needs a hybrid inverter, an off-grid build needs a charge controller and a bigger battery, and the roof needs enough unshaded space.
