Huasun Solar Review (Philippines): The Largest HJT Maker, Seen Here Only at a Trade Show

Huasun Energy is a single-technology specialist: heterojunction (HJT) cells and modules, and by its own count the largest HJT manufacturer in the world by ingot, wafer, cell and module volume — 20 GW of annual HJT production capacity and 13 GW of cumulative shipments. HJT is the most efficient mainstream cell technology sold today, with better low-light and high-temperature behavior than either PERC or TOPCon, which is exactly the kind of differentiator this batch of reviews is meant to surface. The problem isn’t the technology.

Local availability — the deciding issue

The only Philippine-specific material we could find on Huasun was a 2024 article, published on Huasun’s own site and syndicated by pv-magazine and others, describing its attendance at the Solar & Storage Live Philippines trade expo. We read it directly: it covers the company’s booth and general Southeast Asia ambitions, and names no Philippine distributor, dealer, or installer partner anywhere in the text.

That’s the exact pattern to be skeptical of — a trade-show appearance on a manufacturer’s own site is marketing, not a distribution channel. It tells you Huasun wants to sell here eventually, not that a Philippine homeowner can buy or get a warranty honored on a Huasun panel today. We found no local office, no named reseller, and no installer openly listing Huasun as a supplied brand.

For a panel, that gap matters more than for almost any other solar component. A performance warranty running 25 years or more needs a local party to make a claim against, and HJT modules in particular are still a comparatively thin installed base outside a handful of markets — so even finding matching replacement stock years from now would depend on a channel that, as far as we can verify, doesn’t exist here yet. Solar panel warranties explained covers what that promise is supposed to guarantee.

What we’re not doing

We’re not publishing Huasun’s model-level efficiency, temperature coefficient, or degradation figures here. HJT as a technology class is worth understanding in general — it typically posts better temperature coefficients than TOPCon, which matters more in Philippine heat than in temperate climates — but without a confirmed local channel, we can’t verify which SKU or locally honored warranty would actually apply to a panel sold here. Mono PERC vs TOPCon and n-type vs p-type cover the general cell-technology ground, including where HJT sits relative to TOPCon.

Why the rating sits where it does

Huasun’s manufacturing claim — largest HJT producer by volume — is a real, verifiable scale statement, not a vague marketing line, and that’s worth something. But the only Philippine evidence we found is a trade-show appearance, the specific pattern this site treats as a red flag rather than a channel, which weighs the rating down more than a brand we simply found no information on at all.

Who it’s best for

Hard to recommend to a Philippine buyer today. If an installer quotes Huasun panels, ask directly how they sourced them, whether there’s an import arrangement, and who honors a warranty claim locally — HJT’s genuine technical advantages are only worth chasing if there’s an accountable party behind the panel.
