Sermatec Inverter Review (Philippines): A Utility-Scale Player, No PH Retail Channel

Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is a real, currently operating company, founded in 2017 with roughly $15.5M raised and dual headquarters in Shanghai and Frankfurt. As recently as June 2026 it commissioned a 10MW/31MWh utility-scale battery storage facility in Bulgaria, which is current, verifiable, large-scale work. Its earlier product catalog included the SMT series of residential and commercial hybrid solar inverters.

We could not find a Philippine distributor, an official Lazada PH or Shopee PH store, or any Philippine installer carrying Sermatec inverters.

A company that looks to have shifted focus

Sermatec’s most visible recent news is utility-scale battery energy storage projects in Europe, not residential hybrid inverters. We were not able to load Sermatec’s own product site to check its current residential inverter lineup directly — the site returned a server error on our attempts — so we can’t confirm from a primary source whether the SMT residential inverter line is still an active product category or has been deprioritized in favor of commercial and utility work. Treat that as an open question rather than a settled fact either way.

What is clear from independent sources: nothing in our research turned up a Philippine presence for Sermatec of any kind — no distributor, no local case study, no installer forum mention.

What that means in practice

  • No accountable local party for a warranty claim, on a hybrid inverter category where you’d typically expect 5-10 years of coverage.
  • Unclear current product availability. Even if you found a Sermatec SMT unit for sale through an import reseller, you’d be buying a product whose manufacturer’s public attention looks to be elsewhere right now.
  • No local installer familiarity to draw on for commissioning or service.

See solar panel warranties explained for why a warranty term only matters alongside a working local claim path, and how to avoid solar scams for what to check before paying for any inverter without one.

What Sermatec costs in the Philippines

No verifiable Philippine pricing exists. Our hybrid inverter price guide covers the general bands for comparably sized hybrid systems from brands that do have a local channel.

Who it’s best for

Not a recommendation for a Philippine homeowner today. The company itself is real and currently active, but its current public focus is utility-scale storage abroad, and there is no local channel connecting its residential product line to a Philippine buyer.

If a hybrid inverter with genuine battery-storage engineering credentials and a confirmed local channel is what you’re after, Deye, Growatt and Sungrow are the safer comparison — see the best solar inverter roundup.
